Wimbledon station

The first railway station in Wimbledon was opened on 21 May 1838, when the London and South Western Railway (L&SWR) opened its line from its terminus at Nine Elms in Battersea to Woking. The original station was to the south of the current station on the opposite side of the Wimbledon Bridge.

Wimbledon, London

As it was in the 16th and 17th centuries, Wimbledon's attraction remains its combination of convenient access to central London with the benefit of plentiful recreational facilities. Strong demand for homes, especially the larger properties in the Wimbledon Village and Wimbledon Park areas, has seen prices increase to amongst the highest in the outer London area.

St Mary's Church, Wimbledon

There have been four churches on the site since 1086: [1]

Arnos Grove tube station

The station is part of the Arnos Grove group of stations, comprising all seven stations from Cockfosters to Turnpike Lane, and the management office for the group is in Arnos Grove station. Linked to the station by a lineside passageway is Ash House, which is a drivers' depot. Arnos Grove is often noted for its station cat (a rarity on the London Underground network), called Spooky, who now occupies the station car park after being evicted due to the introduction of UTS gates.[7]

Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum

The lunatic asylum, as such hospitals were known at the time, was located on Friern Barnet Road. It is shown on this Victorian Ordnance Survey map of 1876-1881 which marks Colney Hatch Park in the area centred on Springfield Road in New Southgate, in the London Borough of Enfield. The asylum itself was further west in what is now generally called Friern Barnet, in the London Borough of Barnet.
