Upper Holloway is a district in the London Borough of Islington, London. The name has fallen out of common use and the area is generally regarded as being a part of Archway. The use of 'Upper Holloway' is most often used for Upper Holloway railway station. Upper Holloway is the original designation of the N19 postal district. The classic late Victorian comic novel Diary of a Nobody is set in Upper Holloway.

Crouch End railway station

The station was built by the Edgware, Highgate and London Railway and opened on 22 August 1867. The line ran from Finsbury Park to Edgware via Highgate with branches to Alexandra Palace and High Barnet. After the 1921 Railways Act created the Big Four railway companies, the line was, from 1923, part of the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER).

The huge station building was badly damaged by a V-1 flying bomb in 1944 and never rebuilt. The remainder of the building was demolished in 1966 in preparation for the construction of the Victoria Line;[48] the only surface building is a small entrance hall, set back from the main road and hidden from view behind a post office.
