Places of interest in E9Hackney (parish)Hackney was a parish in the historic county of Middlesex. The parish church of St John-at-Hackney was built in 1789, replacing the nearby former 16th century parish church dedicated to St Augustine (pulled down in 1798). The original tower of that church was retained to hold the bells until the new church could be strengthened; the bells were finally removed to the new St John's in 1854. See details of other, more modern, churches within the original parish boundaries below.Sutton Housein the United States (by state)Victoria Park, East LondonBostall · Coldfall · Dulwich · Epping Forest · Grangewood Park · Highgate · Lesnes Abbey · Oxleas · Queen's · Russia Dock · Sydenham HillQueen's WoodThe wood is an ancient oak-hornbeam woodland, which features English oak and occasional beech which provide a canopy above cherry, field maple, hazel, holly, hornbeam, midland hawthorn, mountain ash and both species of lowland birch. The scarce Wild Service Tree (which is evidence of the Woods's ancient origin) is scattered throughout the wood. The Wood has no park or playing fields (but does sport a children's adventure playground built on top of the plague pit) and has never been subjected to intensive management of the type practised at Highgate Wood and accordingly there is greater diversity of flora and fauna - Bantock (1984) found a significantly greater number of ground feeding birds present in the Wood when compared to Highgate Wood, which he attributed to the greater structural diversity and denser shrub layer present. Queen's Wood and Highgate Wood are a Local Nature Reserve, designated as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.[1]Alexandra Palace television stationAerial Group - C/DInformation by Wikipedia.com
