Movers Directory Tips When Moving With Pets
• Ensure your household pet is wearing suitable identification and any required license tags in case they get lost in the new area.

•  Ask your veterinarian for a copy of your pet's medical history to take with you, and make sure all vaccination shots are up to date.
 
• Shortly before the move, your pets may become nervous or distressed from all of the unusual activity. Keep a close eye on them; stress may cause them to misbehave or run off. Consider putting them in boarding kennels during the most hectic days, or ask a friend to look after them.

• When you move, carry with you a health certificate and a rabies vaccination certificate. The health certificate, signed by your veterinarian, confirms your pet is in good condition and the rabies certificate states when and where your pet was vaccinated.

• If you are moving across state lines or abroad, call or write to the state veterinarian or State Department of Animal Husbandry, for current laws on the entry of animals. Some states require up-to-date rabies vaccinations. For example, the state of Hawaii requires 120-day quarantine for dogs and cats that have just moved from another state.

• When your move is completed, give your pet time to adjust to their new neighbourhood and surroundings. Ease them into it gently and go out with them so they have some familiarity. Don't let your pets roam freely until they learn where your new home is or they might get lost and not know how to find their way back.

• If you pet has an ID implant, remember to update the contact information every time you move house.
