North End (ward)

Northend was a hamlet within the ancient parish of Crayford, although parts of the area covered by the hamlet are actually now within Colyers ward.

Dartford

During the medieval period Dartford was an important waypoint for pilgrims and travellers en route to Canterbury and the Continent and various religious orders established themselves in the area. In the 12th century the Knights Templar had possession of the manor of Dartford.[1] The National Trust property at Sutton-at-Hone, to the south of the town, is a remaining piece of that history. In the 14th century, a priory was established here, and two groups of friars ? the Dominicans and the Franciscans ? built hospitals here for the care of the sick. At this time the town became a small but important market town.

Leo Baeck College

To date, Leo Baeck has trained over 150 rabbis, including also a majority of the small number of Masorti rabbis in the U.K.[1]

Finchley Central tube station

The station has two entrances. The main one, leading directly to the ticket hall, is from an access road on the north side of the tracks which for many years lacked a name, but on 13 November 2006 was named Chaville Way after one of Barnet's twin towns. Chaville Way is a turning off the main road opposite Nether Street at the point where the main road changes name from Ballards Lane to Regent's Park Road. It also leads to the station car park. The second entrance is in Station Road.

Sternberg Centre

It was founded to facilitate a number of Reform and Liberal Jewish institutions, attached to the Movement for Reform Judaism (formerly: Reform Synagogues of Great Britain) principally through education and cultural means. The centre was opened in 1981 by the Manor House Trust and is now named after Sigmund Sternberg. The founding organisations are: Leo Baeck college and the Akiva School, the first Reform Jewish day school in England (also opened in 1981); also the (Masorti) New North London Synagogue. The centre also hosted the Jewish Museum, Finchley. The Sternberg Centre grounds also house Akiva School and the offices of RSY Netzer, The Zionist Youth Movement for Reform Judaism
