Kensington Roof Gardens

The Roof Gardens have been owned by Sir Richard Branson since 1981, and are part of Virgin Limited Edition - the luxury portfolio of Virgin Hotels Group Ltd. The portfolio includes Necker Island, Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa, Sa Terra Rotja in Mallorca, The Lodge, Verbier in Switzerland, Moskito Island in the British Virgin Islands and Necker Belle, a luxury catamaran.

High Street Kensington tube station

The station complex incorporates retail stores (including a Marks & Spencer and a Pret a Manger). The station itself has four platforms - two through platforms and two bay platforms. Platform 1 is used for anti-clockwise Circle Line and westbound District Line line trains towards Gloucester Road and Earl's Court, respectively. Platform 2 is for clockwise Circle Line and eastbound District Line trains towards Edgware Road. Platforms 3 and 4 are used for terminating District Line trains from Earl's Court. Platform 3 is usually used for the Olympia service and platform 4 is usually only used at the start and end of the day. There used to be a waiting room between Platform 2 & 3 for customer use, but this was turned into a staff room for drivers shortly before the Circle Line Hammersmith Extension was implemented in December 2009.

Kensington

Kensington is crossed east-west by three main roads, the most important of which is the A4 or Cromwell Road which connects it to both Central London and Heathrow Airport. To the north is the mostly-parallel Kensington Road (of which Kensington High Street forms a large part), linking central London and Hammersmith to the area. To the south is Fulham Road, which connects South Kensington with Fulham to the southwest. North-south connections are not as well-developed and there is no obvious single north-south route through the area.

Russell Square tube station

Russell Square is a London Underground station on Bernard Street, Bloomsbury in the London Borough of Camden. It is a small but busy station, used by office workers and tourists staying in Bloomsbury's numerous hotels.

Charles Dickens Museum, London

A new addition to the household was Dickens' younger brother Frederick. Also, Catherine's 17 year old sister Mary moved with them from Furnival's Inn to offer support to her newly married sister and brother-in-law. It was not unusual for a woman's unwed sister to live with and help a newly married couple. Dickens became very attached to Mary, and she died in his arms after a brief illness in 1837. She became a character in many of his books, and her death is fictionalized as the death of Little Nell. Dickens had a three year lease (at £80 a year) on the property. He would remain here until 1839 after which he moved on to grander homes as his wealth increased and his family grew. However, this is the only surviving house that he lived in London.
