Louisa Boothby-Heathcote (1854?1940), who had succeeded as lady of the manor in 1915, was the last resident of the house. After the 1939-45 war, the estate was sold to London County Council who built the large housing estate.

Walthamstow Stadium

Walthamstow Stadium was a greyhound racing track located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in East London (grid reference TQ375913) and was one of a limited number of remaining greyhound race tracks operating in Greater London.[1] The track closed in August 2008, despite assurances from the owners in December 2007 that no deal had been made to sell the track and that racing would continue for years.

Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum

Originally plans were made and land purchased for this asylum to be built in proximity close to the existing 1st Middlesex County Asylum at Hanwell on ground that lies just on the other side of the Grand Union Canal. Perhaps the number of other asylums already in the area led to the decision to have it built elsewhere. The architect was Samuel Daukes, the design of which was based on the advice of John Conolly, the superintendent of the 1st Middlesex Asylum. It opened on the 17th of July, 1851 and was officially referred to as the 2nd Middlesex County Asylum with William Charles Hood (1824-1870) being its first medical superintendent.[2]
