The local church is St Mary with St Leonard, on Church Green. It is part of Chelmsford North Deanery.[7] There is also a Methodist church, at 124 Main Road.
The Cathedral has relationships with schools in the town and is closely linked to The Cathedral School, St Cedd's School, King Edward VI Grammar School (Chelmsford) and Chelmsford County High School for Girls.
The 2MT call-sign has not been re-issued for regular use since 1922. However in 2001, a special permit was given for it to be used to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first wireless transmission across the Atlantic by Marconi in 1901.
