Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum

The lunatic asylum, as such hospitals were known at the time, was located on Friern Barnet Road. It is shown on this Victorian Ordnance Survey map of 1876-1881 which marks Colney Hatch Park in the area centred on Springfield Road in New Southgate, in the London Borough of Enfield. The asylum itself was further west in what is now generally called Friern Barnet, in the London Borough of Barnet.

Bounds Green tube station

Two escalators take passengers from the ticket hall down to the platforms with a central fixed stairway. These machines were installed in 1989 and 1991, replacing the original 1932 machines. The current installations are Otis MH-B type of 15.8m vertical rise. The sub-surface areas of the station are tiled in biscuit coloured tiles lined with red friezes. The station tunnels have, in common with those of Southgate, a diameter of 21 feet (6.4 metres). In contrast, the much busier Wood Green, Turnpike Lane and Manor House have 23 foot (7 metre) diameter platform tunnels. The construction of "suicide pits" between the rails was also innovative. These were built in connection with a system of passageways under the platforms to give access to the track.

Essex Road railway station

Essex Road is a station on the proposed Chelsea-Hackney line. This scheme is currently being pursued by the developers of Crossrail. It would connect the station to the London Underground network for the first time since the Northern City Line was transferred away from the Northern Line. It would be located between Angel and Dalston Junction. Trains would go to King's Cross St. Pancras, Epping and South West London. [2]

St Mary Magdalene Gardens

St Mary Magdalene Gardens on Holloway Road in Islington, London, are the old burial ground of St Mary Magdalene Church. Some tomb stones still bear witness to these early times. However, the grounds were transformed into a public space at the end of the 19th century, which now is a space appreciated by many for recreation and leisure activities.
